Frequently Asked Questions About ConTact C.A.R.E

What is Contact C.A.R.E and how can it help my horse?

Contact C.A.R.E (Commonsense Approach to Real Ease) works directly on a skeletal level to resolve pain, injury and discomfort. Bones are the foundation which the entire body is built around and supported by.

Correctly functioning bones work as a whole to support each other, plus the tissues and organs they carry. But if a single bone doesn't function correctly it creates immediate discomfort. These "Flichlocked® " bones override natural movement and create stress and pain. The longer a "Flinchlocked® " bone stays in place, the further from natural function everything else becomes.

Once a "Flinchlocked® " bone has been found, specific pressure is applied to this bone at the correct angle required to bring release. Simultaneously freeing tendons, muscles and nerves affected by these bones. The body will automatically adjust to this change and results should start to be seen immediately.

You mentioned Flinchlocked®  bones... What are these?

Flinchlocked® bones are bones trapped in a state of shock.

These bones prevent correct skeletal function from occurring. Which leads to muscular, nerve and organ strain. So rather than the bone carrying the movement of your horse, the movement has to carry the bone. In total contradiction to what Nature intended! See

What is the cost per treatment and how long will it take?

Treatments are $120 (and include travel costs) and I set aside around 60 minutes per horse.

How many treatments will my horse need?

One treatment can begin a world of change, and in many cases is all that is needed. However depending on your horse and its injuries, 2 - 4 treatments may be required. These are spaced about a month or two apart.

With ConTact C.A.R.E we don't want to see your horse regularly (no weekly treatments), the issue should be resolved in a few treatments, then many choose to go onto a maintenance program of a treatment every few months.

There is an element of uniqueness to each case. Just as no two people are the same, neither are horses. And it also depends on the nature of the injury: for example, cranial injuries will take more treatments to address than limb injuries.

Is Contact C.A.R.E painful? Does it involve manipulations?

What makes Contact C.A.R.E. unique is our founding principle - movement away from pain. Instead of working on a pain site we identify its source and address it there.

There is no room for manipulation in this therapy. But rather the horse will automatically position itself to keep comfortable once bone pressure has been released, this is a process known as unravelling of the connective tissue.

After treatment there can be short lived inflammation or bruising that occurs as a result of greater blood-flow and range of motion in areas that were previously restricted.

What area do you provide treatments in?

Treatments are in the Auckland area.

Group Contact C.A.R.E. treatments can potentially be arranged outside of Auckland by arrangement - for horses, humans, cats and dogs. Contact me to discuss your requirements.

Do you treat people?

Absolutely! In fact most of my work is now with people, located at my clinic in West Auckland. I see a range of ages and concerns. Some of my favourite treatments involve helping those who have suffered concussion and sensory overwhelm. This is where I am hugely excited for the future -  for the groundbreaking work I am discovering ConTact C.A.R.E can offer to those who have been silently suffering the ill effects of a brain injury.
Is there a practitioner in my area you could connect me with?

There are a number of practitioners distributed throughout New Zealand. If you get in touch with me I can connect you with a reputable practitioner located in your area.

Alternatively, if you're out of the Auckland area and would like me to treat your horse personally, contact me to arrange a group treatment day (horse, human, dog or horse rider combination). Contact me

What are your thoughts on other therapies? Chiro, Osteo, Bowen, etc?

We all have our place and purpose, and together we all contribute to the greater welfare of the horse. But each therapy is only effective to the level they work to. So while Chiros, Osteos, Bowen Therapists and Acupuncturists do some fantastic work at a joint, muscular, connective tissue level, they cannot release trapped skeletal pressure.

If the injury is anchored deeper, you need a deeper therapy (Contact C.A.R.E). By setting a healthy skeletal foundation, therapies that involve joints and soft tissue can themselves become far more effective and lasting. See what makes Contact C.A.R.E. different.

What is Contact C.A.R.E in a nutshell

Contact C.A.R.E. is a therapy pioneered by Dale Speedy. It works by identifying bones frozen in a state of shock and filled with pressure, and then releasing them from this grip. Once normal function has been returned the bones can re-integrate into correct skeletal function.

The reason this is so important is because all muscle, tissue, nerves and organ structures are attached to a bone. So if a bone isn't working correctly it places stress on the corresponding soft tissue systems. Which results in pain, discomfort and other disorders. The skeleton is the foundation that the rest of the body is built upon, if the foundation is weakened the structure will fail.

During a treatment session your horse is read as a whole, the work done appropriately to the situation, and any follow up activities, recommendations or exercises are provided at the close of the treatment. Learn more about Contact C.A.R.E. here.
